Phil
Phil Lynch began practicing yoga diligently in 1998. He completed his first training in classical Ashtanga yoga at Mt Madonna Center with Baba Hari Dass (YTT’98); learning the slow flow, mudra and pranayama techniques. He completed his second training at KaliRay TriYoga Center, and began teaching the spinal waves of the their dance-like flows later that year. He continued his studies in Los Angeles completing his third 200-hour Vinyasa training at Sacred Movement (with Max Strom and Shiva Rea) in 2002 while assisting Saul David Raye. Phil taught in California, Maryland and Hawaii from 1999-2009 before moving to NYC. He led the asana program for the Level 2 Teacher Training (500-hour)’04 at Mt. Madonna Center. He also developed the sequence and instructed the practitioners for the “Yoga Radiance” DVD and was both model and creative consultant for Sacred Form yoga calendars. Phil continues to deepen his asana and meditation practices while exploring the dynamic relationships between breath, detailed alignments and the mind. Phil has developed several techniques for applying oneself to the asana practice. By learning the value of both up-tempo vinyasa and slow flow, Phil incorporates clear alignment cues, specific engagement and some self effacing humor to hold the student’s focus and attention. He is as comfortable teaching absolute beginners as the very advanced. Through his study of Thai massage, his own experiences, and years of exposure to nationally known teachers, Phil is able to offer several therapeutic approaches to restore and heal the body and calm the mind.
